Fossil provides insights into origin of cheetahs

Cheetahs-The fastest land animals reaching to a speed of 75 mph (120 kph), currently regarded as one of the endangered species of cats in the world.The cheetah lineage is a group of large, slender, and long-limbed cats with a distinctive skull and dental morphology, of which only the extant cheetah (Acinonyx jubatus) is present today.The lineage of cheetahs show some very special characters in having abbreviated, tall, and domed crania.

Jet flies on fuel from Jatropha plant

A jet fuel made from the jatropha plant was used to run a boeing 747 from Air New Zealand and considered it to be a milestone in commercial aviation industry.It comes as a great news for airline industry and also considered to be environmentally friendly.This was the first time fuel produced from a Jatropha plant was used to power a jet engine ,which was mixed with equal proportions of conventional jet fuel in the test run.

It will be all Charles Darwin this year,as it happens to his 200th Birth anniversary and “Origin of species” completes 150 years. Recently Nature Journal came out with “15 Evolutionary gems” as a tribute to Charles Darwin’s theory of Natural selection for Evolution and Lancet another leading journal also paid tribute to great Charles Darwin by releasing a special issue on Evolution called “Darwin’s Gifts”,to commemorate the two specials events in evolution this year.

China’s New fossil discovery might hold clues for extinction of Dinosaurs

The mystery of why giant Dinosaurs suddenly became extinct can find some answers,with the discovery of major fossil field ,unearthing more that 7600 bones from Eastern part of China. Zhucheng in Shandong province is known locally as “dinosaur city” and has been in news for last 50 years for several important findings.But scientists believe this discovery ,which dates back to late Cretaceous period which is around the time when dinosaurs became extinct might helps to understand why why the creatures died out.
