Latest DNA sequencing Technologies -FREE Poster : Nature review genetics

Technology of DNA sequencing is improving with every passing day. Modern sequencing equipment uses the principles of the Sanger dideoxynucleotide technique ,which appears to have reached its limit for technological improvements. Many companies like Applied Biosystems are offering faster and cheaper sequence information in far greater volumes than ever before. Thanks to these innovations in DNA sequencing ,which enabled research that would be impractical and too expensive using the Sanger technology.

Nature review Genetics has a very informative poster and podcast about these latest development going on in the field of sequencing DNA.The poster , which can be downloaded free online gives the technical details of commercially available, next generation sequencing platforms are highlighted, along with their advantages and disadvantages.

Sanger Method:

One can have a brief overview of details of DNA sequencing methodologies used by different companies like ROCHE, APPLIED BIOSYSTEMS, HELICOS, and ILLUMINA. Its great to see that now an investigator has many options to choose from rather than single way , which was case few years ago.
