EU not sure of safety of cloned animal products

European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) believe that they are still not sure about the safety of cloned animal products and further study is needed,as data available is not substantial.Dr. Dan Collins of EFSA is of the opinion that There are possible concerns as there is an impact of animal health and welfare on food safety. More data is required he said before fully accepting the use of cloned animals products in EU,which was decided after the final scientific opinion on the implications of animal cloning on food safety, animal health and welfare and the environment.

Unlike US where FDA has gave its backing to meat and milk products from cloned cattle, pigs and goats,EU citizens have been always reluctant to accept biotechnology.

But it looks like consumers in both America and EU doesn’t want products from cloned animals,so what the point in making it available in supermarkets.
EFSA

“For cattle and pigs, food safety concerns are considered unlikely. But we must acknowledge that the evidence base is still small. We would like to have a broader data base and we need further clarification.”
