Upcoming Meetings in Dev Bio and evo devo

Here is some information about two interesting meetings coming up one in developmental biology and another evo devo in Frannce and Belgium respectively.

“Frontiers in Developmental Biology” meeting

The French and Japanese Societies for Developmental Biology are organising on 13 – 17 September 2008 in Giens, on the French Mediterranean coast, a meeting entitled “Frontiers in Developmental Biology”.

The meeting will explore how the most recent technological and conceptual advances in the fields of genomics, systems biology, bioinformatics, imaging and modelling can complement more traditional developmental biology studies.

Organizers : Patrick Lemaire (IBDML Marseille) and Shinichi Aizawa(Kobe,Japan)

With great interest I learned about your society. My name is Jorge Herkovits, I am a scientist with background in developmental biology focusing during the last 20 years in environmental issues as they could disrupt embryonic development. I became interested in evolutionary issues from two different perspectives: i) paleoecotoxicology (2001), a novel field which link environmental toxicology and chemistry with the evolutionary process e.g. mass extinction events, and ii) evoecotoxicology (2006) also a novel field which provides evidence that the environmental changes durng the evolutionary process are registered in living organisms and can be explored during the ontogenic process. Both articles are available in the web and the last subject seems to me directly related to evo-devo

I would like to be a member of the society and have the opportunity to discuss the role of environmental features during the evolutionary process on ontogenesis.

    Kind regards
