yeah true ……..this conservation is really amazing……..NK gene ….important for heart function like tinman ……..is expressed in all species in which dorsal tube/ heart is like structure is present……recently it has been shown for annelid platyneris also……….

In our institute………..a group also work on TBX 20 ……infact this group does some very nice work on heart of flies and mouse……….

I worked on Tbx20 and heart development in the african clawed frog (xenopus laevis) in graduate school.

I have always found the fact that insects, with their simple dorsal vessel (basically a heart), use the same genetic program to control heart development to be one of the single most fascinating facts in all of developmental biology.
